What were the relations between our country and far-off South Africa in the second half of the twentieth century? Why and how did the Soviet Union become one of the most important political factors at the tip of the African continent? What was Russias role in the changes that South Africa went through at the end of the last century? What were the mutual images that our peoples had of one another? These are the questions that we discuss in this book. It is aimed at the reader who is interested in the history of Africa, in Russias relations with the African continent, in Russias foreign policy and in the problems of mutual understanding between different peoples and countries.
